AUBURN HILLS -- The Detroit Pistons selected forward Walter Sharpe from Alabama-Birmingham with the first of their three second-round picks in the NBA draft Thursday night.

The Pistons selected Indiana's D.J. White with their first-round pick (29th overall) but traded his rights to Seattle for the 32nd and 46th picks. They also retained their own second-round pick (No. 59).

With the 46th pick, Detroit took Brigham Young's Trent Plaisted. The 6-11 center averaged 15.6 points and 7.7 rebounds as a junior last season and scored in double figures in each of his three full seasons with the Cougars.
