Obama Inauguration Timeline

January 20th 2009 (12pm)

  The 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama will be sworn in on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on January 20th 2009.  The road to presidency has been long and tiresome for the nations 1st African-American president. This day will be the culmination and celebration of one of the most significant days in American history.

We decided to create a timeline illustrating the main events occurring during inauguration week and where you need to be when Obama delivers the most important speech of his life.

Sunday January 18th 2009
Official concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial featuring music by Beyonce, Josh Groban, U2, Stevie Wonder and passages read by Denzel Washington, Martin Luther King III and Jamie Foxx.


Monday January 19th 2009
In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden will participate in service activities around the Washington DC area.

Tuesday, January 20th 2009- Inauguration Day:
11:30am- Opening remarks- Senator Dianne Feinstien (D-Calif.)
11:38am- Song- Aretha Franklin “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”
11:46am- Joseph Biden is sworn in as Vice President of the United States of America.
12:00pm - Barack H. Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America and delivers the Inaugural Address.

The Inaugural Parade and Ball will follow as this historic day comes to a close.
